Daphene + Rodney + One on the Way = Family

I've known Daphene & Rodney for a little over three years and we've become close.  In fact, we have a very special relationship that has been bound by an accident.  A car accident.  One that we were in together on our way back from the engagement session I documented right around this time of year.  After the wedding, I knew that we would stay close and in touch.  Then, Rodney left for war and I had to document them as a couple before he left.  Thankfully, he is back safe.  Now, we have a new life-to-be to be thankful for.  Daphene carries a beautiful, gorgeous, healthy, round belly that I documented just the other day.  The day the big snowstorm hit.  During our session I realized the stress she had been going through lately.  Because her Haitian relatives are dealing with a horrible situation following the earthquake.  An earthquake that has taken lives, precious lives.

So, I write this posting thankful for my friendship with Daphene & Rodney.  Thankful for Rodney's safe return home.  Thankful that they are sharing this incredibly beautiful time in their lives with me.  And so thankful for Daphene's healthy belly.

I look forward to meeting a new little person!

Sarah & Keith. A Post Wedding Session at Patapsco State Park.

Sarah & Keith had an amazing wedding.  Not because they swanked it out, but because every step of the way they made certain it was a little piece of them to share with family & friends.  And it worked.   For our post-wedding session they chose to go near the place where Keith first proposed to Sarah.  Patapsco State Park is a favorite hiking place for them.  So, we went there to document their session.  The day was beautiful.  Warm Fall weather, which is a little odd.  But, I'm not complaining.  Clearly, these two are very much in love.  Thanks Keith & Sarah!

Charlie! A Family Portrait Session with his Parents...and Stella.

Here's Charlie.  Adorable.  Witty.  Charming.  Smart.  Funny.  Adorable.  Oh, I said that already.  And he's going to be a big brother, too.  I first photographed this family a couple of years ago when they were Baltimore City rowhome dwellers.  They've since moved to the Burbs for a little more room and grass!  What's so funny is that I, too, lived in a rowhome and well, lets just say that sometimes the fact that you can extend your arms and touch either wall fairly easily gets a little old after a while.  So, when I pulled up to their new home I chuckled because, like mine, it's 3 times the size and there's a yard!  Extremes.

Anyway.  This family was one of the first I photographed when I went into business and I probably shot one of my most favorite images with baby Charlie and his pup Stella. It's hysterical.  It's so great to see them again and see Charlie gettin' bigger and bigger.  He's into trees, trains, and worms.

Paige is having a baby!

This is Charlie & Stella!

Emily's Birthday Portrait Session.

Emily just turned one!  So very exciting.  Her parents, Karen & Chuck, found it fitting to make a fashion statement for this very special occasion.  So, our session consisted of tutus, big pink bows, and a box of cookies...on the floor!  Yum.

Happy Birthday Emily!

Welcome to the World, Jocelyn!

Joceyln decided she wanted to see the world three weeks sooner than she was expected.  But, this healty little nugget (that's what I like to call adorable, yummy babies) is perfect in every way.  And her parents, Jaime & Bryan, couldn't be more thriilled with her arrival.  We photographed Jocelyn within the first two weeks of her birth and she turned out to be a fabulous model.  I think she's a natural.

Congratulations Bryan & Jaime!  Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful & precious life with me.

Beautiful Fall Light for the Jensen Family.

Veronica & Kate have a ton of energy and kept me running for an hour and a half.  But, no complaints on this end.  It keeps me in shape and on my toes.  I always go into these sessions ( a little nervous) with the mindset of not knowing what will happen.  But, anxiously awaiting to see what will.  It's so much fun seeing how their personalities unfold in front of the camera.  I know that my presense changes situations by merely becoming part of the situation.  But, there's always that fleeting moment when they let their guards down and a pureness of the subject is documented.

So, when Tamara told me this was the first time their family had been professionally photographed it was so important to me to create images that spoke to them about who they are as a family unit.

I hope it's what they expected...or not.

Thanks so much for your trust & happiness!

Kate is a mermaid!
