A Special Visit from the Feather Family!

I'm so lucky.  I mean really lucky.  And grateful... to have the many families I've photographed come back to me year after year to document their ever-growing, ever-changing family life.  The Feathers are one of those families I'm blessed to see again & again.  What's even more special is that this family now lives in Toronto and took the time out of their busy vacation back in this area to come see me and share a little bit of their family life. And it was raining.  And the traffic was aweful.  And their little guy wasn't feeling 100%.

Things have changed since I saw them last.  Owen is twice as big and she is now the big sister to Devon, a sweet blue-eyed boy that will knock your socks off.

Thank you, thank you for coming to see me. You have such a beautiful family that is full of personality. 

I'm so excited about a new venture that includes destination Life Sessions...like to Toronto!  Stay tuned.

Dillon Turns One on a Hot August Day!

For Dillon's first birthday we went to Gunpowder Falls State Park, a beautiful park with many playground areas and access to water.  It was blazing hot, not even shade kept us sheltered from Maryland humidity.  I thought later in the day would help, but it didn't.  The saving grace was the little beach we went to when the sun was just right. 

Michele & Bob have been loyal clients since their older son, Connor, was a young lad.  Now, he's old enough to have his own agenda and sometimes it includes Dillon.  I'm so grateful this family comes back to me to document them.  I so love seeing everyone grow and discover. 

And really, you never know what going to happen.  We had a lot of firsts during this shoot with Dillon.

First time Dillon stands on his own!

First time he really sat in grass (city dwellers!)  He wasn't thrilled.

But, then he got used to it.

First time he climbed up a slide.

Yay!

Connor, their beautiful older son with the most amazing eyes.

First time he got the freedom to roam at the beach...in the water (no worries, it's very shallow)!  Crazy.

Sometimes family pictures don't have to be posed.

Liam & CC. A Session in NYC.

I've been photographing Phoenix & Shawn's family since 2005.  Everything from holidays to weddings to new babies.  And now NYC.  Their soon to be new stomping grounds.  How wonderful!  I feel like this is the end of an era or something.  Don't forget about me, Phoe!  I won't forget about you.

Joey's Little Brother, Jack.

I've been documenting the Hortiz family since Joey was a few weeks old.  My oh my how they grow. And now there's Jack!  I recently documented the second of our Life Stages session at their home.  So cute!

More Mini Sessions!

Once per month our studio offers 1/2 hour mini-sessions.  These are great for so many reasons.  First of all, it's a great introduction to our clients using us for the first time.  They will get a sense and feel for our style and the way we approach a session. Many of our clients come back for more and take advantage of the other session options we provide.  Secondly, some kids just can't take more than a 1/2 hour.  Thus, giving parents the option to still get great images of their family in a compact period of time. Phew.  And third of all, you would be surprised at what can unfold in a 1/2 hour period of time.  We go with the flow and let the kids rule.  Well...to some extent. But, the outcome is fabulous. And the parents are always pleasantly surprised.

We also do pregnancy & senior sessions as well.  More to come!

Spring is in the Air!

Thank you to all you fabulous families who signed up for a Spring Portrait marathon.  Jennifer & I had a great time and you all did such a great job being our subjects!  I have a few tidbits from the eight sessions, yes eight, that I documented at our Savage Mil studio location last Saturday.  Enjoy!
