Ben & Laura. A Wedding at the Waterfront Family Estate in Easton, Maryland
WOW is the first word that comes to mind when I think about this wedding. First of all, the weather report for the day had been thunderstorms all day. Not a great forecast for an outdoor ceremony and reception at a stunning property. But, we all crossed our fingers. Especially coordinator Sara Muchnick, of Engaging Affairs, with her wellies on and a firm belief that the clouds would part and all would be well. She was right. Within an hour the sky was bright blue and a cool breeze remained. Phewww. Secondly, Laura & Ben wanted a feel-good, home-spun, natural-style celebration. And Sara left no stone unturned bringing this to life for them. The ceremony was held in a garden grove and the sky was their chuppah. For the reception, I loved the concept of long tables topped with simple china and mason jars of fresh flowers. The meal was served in a family-style fashion which was a fabulous way to create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone. Guests were able to view a clothesline of family photos and later they watched Ben & Laura attempt to break a peacok pinata (there were several peacoks living on the property). At the end of the night, all were welcome to gather around a fire on the beach and roast marshmellows.
The speeches. Instead of being toasted, Laura & Ben chose to give little speeces about one another and their families. There was not a dry eye in the place. Even I had to hold myself together. So touching.
The band. Okay, Gonzo's Nose (yes, that is the name of the band) was AWESOME! They absolutely had everyone on the floor dancing crazy and were playing the best songs. So fun.
Laura & Ben. Thank you so much for your trust. Your celebration was so beautiful and it's clear how much you care and love one another.
A special thank you to Wendy Hickok for her creative eye.
Laura's beautiful Vera Wang gown.
Ben spends time fine-tuning his reception speech.
The man responsible for introducing them.
